Instructional Program
Camp sessions are designed to improve an athlete’s softball techniques and skills, while learning offensive and defensive strategies of the fast-paced game.
Campers will be placed into groups according to ability, thus to insure the best learning experience.
All campers will be evaluated individually upon arrival at each camp and challenged to show improvement each day.
Our goal is for each camper to leave our camp a much improved softball player and a better understanding of the rules/strategies of fastpitch softball…and a LOVE for COMPETITION!
Campers are in for extensive training sessions, which includes:
- The experience of playing on the NEW UAB Softball Field!
- Outstanding Coaching Staff of UAB Softball coaches and UAB Softball
players (current and former).
- Certified Athletic Trainer on duty.
- A 8:1 Ratio of campers to coaches. We take pride in our low coach-player
ratio and feel that this provides the best possible learning environment.

- Mental Toughness
- Academic Success
- Sports Nutrition
- Goal Setting
- Multi-level ability grouping.
- Meeting other young athletes who share your love of softball.

Softball Camps at UAB are a participant in the Gatorade NCAA Summer Sports Camp Program, which helps educate campers about the
importance of proper hydration during sports activity and provides cold Gatorade for all camp sessions.
Who Can Participate?
All camps and clinics are designed for girls ages 5-18. Each camp will accommodate all skill levels.

Transportation
Marla Townsend's Fastpitch Softball Camp is happy to provide transportation from the Birmingham Airport free of charge.
Discounts
An employee discount is available for those who work in any capacity at UAB - $20 off of week long camps.
There will be a sibling discount available for families with more that one camper in the same camp.
First camper – regular price, 2nd camper - $20 discount
There will be a group discount available for groups of 8 or more from a school or summer team.
Pro-Rated Pricing
Camp pricing can be broken down into daily rates to accommodate individuals who have prior commitments. Please contact Coach Townsend
at least one week prior for each camps daily rate.
Camp Location
Softball camps will be held on the UAB campus at the
NEW STATE OF THE ART SOFTBALL FIELD and HITTING FACILITY.
The UAB Softball field is located at 1035 University Blvd.

June 21 - 24, 2010 Day Camp
(Commuter Only)
Ages 8-18 Cost: $160
Sessions are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm - Monday through Thursday.
July 12 - 16, 2010
(Commuter/Resident)
Ages 8-18 Cost: $180 for commuters/$300 for residents
Sessions are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday and from 9:00 to noon on Friday.
July 19 - 21, 2010
(Team Camp)
For: Summer Teams, High School and Junior Varsity Teams
Date: July 19th 1:00pm– July 21st 1:00pm
Four game guarantee
Team Camp Costs
$100 Registration Fee per team due by June 1st Correction: June 14th is the deadline!
Minimum 10 players per team
Resident - $125 (Room and Meals included)
The camp will provide meals and room for one coach per team
$60 per extra Coach/Manager/Chaperone
Commuter - $80
